Lost And Found Story
We left behind a bag in the train full of gifts for our members when Guru got down at Varanasi Junction. He realized it when the train had left the station. We thought we lost the bag forever.
We called #RailMadad & asked for help. The train was more than 100km away from Varanasi by that time.
The RPF (Railway Protection Force) responded within 5 mins of our call & confirmed that they got the bag in their custody.
They handed over the bag to Guru the same night when the train came back to Varanasi.

Definitely there are lots of good eateries in Varanasi however our photographers unanimously voted for #SreeCafe near #Dasaswamedh #Ghat for #Breakfast/#Lunch/#Dinner!
Their food is tasty, hygienic & priced reasonably! But is this the only reason to recommend this #restaurant?
Absolutely not! It is also a photographers paradise! You will find some beautiful photographs of Varanasi in big frames displayed here.
Not only that, the owner of this amazing place is @santoshkumarpandey, an ace photographer himself!

What could be the better way to celebrate the World Photography Day than meeting some of the Ace Photographers of the city we are traveling in now & talking about photography?
We had a great time yesterday evening with some of the most eminent photographers of Varanasi!
Blue Café is small but famous #Lassi Shop near #Manikarnika Ghat. One must try their lassi. Our members found it divine in taste and a place not to miss to experience Varanasi in its true form!
Is it only the taste? Not at all. The owner of the shop encourages customers to paste a passport size photograph on the wall if customers like the lassi there. Thousands of these small profile pictures on the wall made it a unique place to experience.
So, #AvTvISO Members recommend you not to miss this place if you are in Varanasi & do not forget to carry a passport size photo with you to paste it there (Shop owner provides the Glue).
We pasted a small AvTvISO #Badge (probably the first badge on its wall) on the wall of the Blue Café. This special badge was made for our members to commemorate World Photography Day-2022 when all the AvTvISO Photographers will meet here in Varanasi to celebrate #WPD2022/#WorldPhotographyDay

The 1st photograph is an award-winning photograph taken by Sadiqur Rahman. The small girl in this photograph is a bright, happy 9-year old name Krishna Rabha. A bike hit her on 16th February 2021 resulting in severe blood clots in her brain and stomach as well as broken bones. Currently she is admitted in Ayushchandra Hospital in Guwahati and needs multiple surgeries immediately.
As you can see in the photograph, her mother is helping her study under an oil lamp (without electricity) while she cooks dinner on a wood fired stove. They live with very basic amenities and their social-economic background is not adequate to support the extensive medical care she needs now. Her family is seeking urgent financial help for her treatment.

Duck Story
Last week, our #AvTvISO members from Chennai visited a small village near Kayar about 30KM away from Chennai for a Sunday Morning #PhotoWalk.
They found a middle-aged couple selling duck meat in a temporary stall they set up at the side of the road. They burnt the duck on a wood fire to singe the feathers so the duck can be consumed with its skin. Our members took some photographs here.
Later our members bought a duck from the couple on the condition that the wife would cook it for them. An hour later, our team received hot freshly cooked duck curry in a steel container.
Now, the team faced a unique challenge. How do they eat it? There were no plates or any shade to sit down and eat. They requested a family nearby to allow them to use their home’s balcony to sit and enjoy the food. The family happily invited our team into their home.
The lady of the house cleaned the balcony and the man brought a fresh banana leaf from his garden for the team to eat in. Our members started to eat the deliciously cooked spicy duck curry. But something was missing... they needed something to soak up the spicy gravy as they enjoyed the meet. Seeing this, the family brought out some fresh steamed Idli, a South Indian rice cake made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils and rice.
The team enjoyed the brunch!
Our members went back to the family again today to give them a small gift in return to show their gratitude! The family was so welcoming even though our members were a complete stranger to them...
Probably that’s the power of #photography! We meet many people... create many stories that become memories for a life time. Probably photography is the best medium to live an adventure filled life...
People say that by making friends with a #photographer, you will never get bored listening to their unending stories & you can learn from them how to live a wondrous life...

Exhibition Frames-2020
Our AvTvISO exhibition including RGB-2019 & CMYK-2020 was scheduled to be held in the last week of March-2020. We had to cancel the exhibition at the last moment due to COVID-19 lockdown despite all the arrangements we had made to conduct it. We hoped then that the situation would soon improve and we can reschedule the exhibition.
We are now in the middle of the last quarter of the year & the situation has not improved. We now think that it will be impossible to organize the exhibition this year.
We have started to handover the laminated frames that we prepared for our exhibition to the respective photographers. Some of our members from Chennai collected their frames today & they have posed happily for us with their frames. We have also arranged to send some frames to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Varanasi where some photographers are living now.
We have decided to gift the rest of the frames to some NGOs or Government Organization instead of destroying them as sending these frames to the photographers to other cities in India and around the World is a logistic challenge in this pandemic for us.
Hopefully the situation will improve soon & we can hold a grand exhibition next year in 2021!

Practice makes perfect
Practice makes perfect.
We have chosen to continue practising our skills in photography despite the lockdown for Covid at AvTvISO. Every week, our members commit to click one photograph even though all of us have full time jobs and family responsibilities through the week. Each member of the group hold each other accountable for continuous practice and improvement of this skill. Collectively we have experimented with lenses we did not use often in the past, with subjects that we did not click in the past, with techniques we read about and so much more. We give each other feedback in an open and honest manner and each member looks forward to hearing what they can do better going forward. After all the pursuit of perfection starts with receiving honest feedback. It’s encouraging to see each of our member’s commitment and progress each week. We have grown stronger together even when we have limited resources and are challenged in so many ways. That is the power in standing together with our group.
